UNI EN 14065

Certification of Laundry Treated Textiles Biocontamination Control Systems

What is UNI EN 14065?

The regulation indicates a system of risk management and control related to biocontamination of fabrics. The objective is to guarantee fabrics that are hygienically and microbiologically clean. In this sense, the RABC Guidelines are a valid tool for the application of all the requirements set forth in the regulation in question.

Assosistema Confindustria  is the only national trade association of the Integrated Industrial System of Textile and Related Medical Goods and Services, with the aim of promoting, representing and protecting the interests of all associated companies.

Specifically, the standard, which governs industrial washing processes, must ensure products that are visibly clean, pleasant to the touch, free from unpleasant odors and – a key point of the standard – with guaranteed microbiological quality on the finished product and throughout the process, up to the delivery of the goods themselves.

How do I get certified?

The certification process according to the UNI EN 14065 standard includes:

  • the request for quotation
  • acceptance of the offer
  • carrying out a pre-assessment audit (optional)
  • carrying out a Certification audit (divided into two stages)
  • the management of any deficiencies released
  • the certification resolution
  • maintenance checks with annual frequency

Key Points

The UNI EN 14065 certification is an advanced tool for managing and controlling biocontamination on fabrics.

The UNI EN 14065 certification attests that the Organization adopts a management system capable of analyzing and making them whole from any type of bacteriological contamination.

The UNI EN 14065 standard dictates the basic requirements to ensure that textile products meet a level of microbiological quality suitable for the intended use.

Specifically, the Biocontamination Risk Analysis and Control System also includes additional risk analyses that allow for the control of biocontamination risks of textiles treated in the laundry. The textiles in question may come from: hospital and/or healthcare, catering (food), hotel and pharmaceutical environments.
